Somatic Yoga

“Soma” means the body as perceived from within. If you have chronic neck, back, shoulder, hip pain, stress, weakness, limited mobility/flexibility, headaches, fatigue, poor posture, shallow breathing, or basically don’t feel comfortable in your own body, this class will change your life!  Somatics (bodywork which emphasizes internal perception and experience) is sensory-motor training that uses neuromuscular (mind-body) movement re-education. The root cause of most chronic muscular pain resides in the brain and the way it senses and organizes the muscles and movement. This creates pain, weakness, tension and a host of other issues. This class uses gentle yet powerful exercises that reverse chronic pain/tension, by regaining awareness, sensation and motor control that allow the brain to remember how to relax and move muscles properly. This change can ONLY be achieved through movement retraining. This class is for EVERYONE!!
